In the study, he pointed out three major features that identify true disciples.

#1. CONTINUE IN THE WORD
John 8:31 …If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
Disciples make Bible reading, Bible study, and meditation a part of their daily life and they are doers of the Word and not just hearers of the Word only.

#2. LOVE THE CHURCH –THE BODY
John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Disciples are commanded to love their brothers and sisters in the same manner that Jesus loved us (sacrificially) and to show that love in a way that is visible to the world. What have you done lately to show your love to the body? What are you doing to visibly demonstrate brotherly love?

#3. BEAR FRUIT
John 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

Authentic disciples will produce the fruit of the Spirit i.e. love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (self control). This is not just an occasional good deed, but a lifestyle of fruit-bearing that prompts even non-believers to glorify God! (Matthew 5:16)

In case you missed last Thursday's lesson or would like to re-watch it, here's the full lesson:

UPCOMING EVENTS

MIDWEEK SERVICE
This Thursday at 7:45 PM Classes for all ages

PURPOSE INSTITUTE
This Week: September 19th at 21st Classes for Registered Students only

BYG (Youth) SERVICE
This Friday, September 20th at 7:30 PM In the Refuge

SANCTUARY CHOIR REHEARSAL
This Saturday, September 21st at 4 PM

YOUTH CHOIR REHEARSALS
Sunday, September 22nd at 4 PM Sunday
September 29th at 4 PM
Thursday, October 3rd at 7:30 PM (No mid-week service)
Friday, October 4th at 7 PM

UPCI GENERAL CONFERENCE
September 24th at 27th Indianapolis, Indiana

YOUTH CONCERT – “CROSS”
Saturday, October 5th at 7:00 PM Josh Carson, Youth President, UPCI James Wilson, Guest Soloist

DISCIPLESHIP I & 2 CLASSES
Sundays at 10 AM

CARE GROUPS
Meet at various locations Call the Church office for information
